It's difficult to say..... if there isn't a tube some aquarists reckon putting it in a seawater safe plastic tube of suitable length and diameter is useful. It could be that given time and no other problems a new tube could be constructed or an existing one repaired. As can be seen the words are "could be".
Your last comment is that you put it back in the tube, so hopefully it will stay there and survive. However, the usual advice given is "don't buy a tube anemone if it is limply hanging out of its tube" as this suggests all is not well.
Fingers crossed then......

Hello Patrick.
Most tube anemones come - strangely enough - with a tube, hence your question no doubt. If the anemone is healthy and expands its tentacles (many look a bit like a firework) then all is well. The anemones are not usually very fond of strong seawater currents so hopefully it is in a low flow area, and this will be helpful if all it has is a rock. In an aquarium it is not in as much danger so the need to disappear into a tube may be non-existent, but be sure there isn't anything that could be a menace.
If you are anxious about the security of the anemone because of the lack of a tube, then you could try carefully placeing the rock its attached too alongside another rock or two of a useful size, creating a smallish crevice for the stem of the anemone.
